The origami frog is a traditional model that is very easy. In fact, it is the very first model I learned. So I can safely recommend it for beginners. It takes about five minutes to fold. Once you practiced a little how to fold this jumping frog you will be able to fold it much quicker.
The origami lily flower is a traditional model that is easy to do. In fact, it’s one of the first models I learned. So I can safely recommend it for beginners. It takes about ten minutes to fold, when you first learn how to make this origami flower. With a little practise it can be done in just five minutes. But still: it’s art and not race 🙂
A friend of mine folded this star in class. I instantly liked it and she showed me how to make it. Well, I watched her fold it. But that was enough, the model is quite simple.A beginner might find the sink difficult, but I tried to explain an easy way of folding it in the video instructions for the Christmas Star. Besides that the model is suitable for beginners, at least My friend is a beginner and had no problems.
This Creeper from the game minecraft was proudly designed by me. It is low intermediate so beginners may need a while to figure it out. The folding itself is simple but the assembling of the head is a little tricky.
I recommend to use small and stiff paper for this Origami Creeper. For example 7,5cm times 7,5cm. If you have access to tant-paper, use it! but green printer-paper is great too.
You can it with anything, it’s just easier with good paper. (Maybe not toilet paper)
I’m a fan of minecraft myself. The block design of the game makes it easy to imagine it’s characters as origami. So I was pretty surprised that there wasn’t any minecraft origami creeper already. This is why I gave it a try. I wanted a model that also fan’s of the games could do. That is why I choose this simplistic approach. The more advanced folders will find many ways to add more details to the model (e.g. the feet can be folded to match the original more closely). But that would have made the model a lot more confusing for people that are new to origami. I’m pretty happy with the way I did the cube-head. For sure there are other models that use that mechanism too – but I figured it out myself :). Drawing the origami creeper’s face on the paper is a small trade-off for the simplicity of the design. Somehow I forgot about the model for while, I designed it over a year ago allready.
This star was designed Paolo Bascetta, who is famous for his modular Stars. The design is also called roulette or spinning star. You need nine sheets of paper to fold it. One of the simple module takes less than a minute to make. This makes the origami star a great project for beginners.
The flapping bird is based on a design by Samuel Randlett. It is action origami because the bird actually moves and flaps it’s wings.
This simple design can be folded under 5 Minutes even by beginners. You don’t need special paper it just needs to be a square.
I just made diagrams of the flapping bird. I hope you find them useful.

The Lotus sometimes also called the water lilly is a simple traditional design, that cna be folded either from paper or napkins. I suggest napkins because they don’t tear so easily making the whole model a lot easier to accomplish.
